Description |
"Italian School, Florence, late 16th century Presented in a Florentine frame in gilded wood and carved with windings and openwork volutes. Total dimensions: 90 x 80 cm. The canvas alone: 57 x 50 cm. Tiberio Titi (Florence, 1578 - 1637) is a painter of the Italian Renaissance, he is the son of the painter Santi di Tito. After working in his father's workshop, where he soaks up his style, he finished some of his works after his death (1603). Like his father, he was welcomed to the Medici court, he specialized in portraits of the Florentine nobility, which gave him a certain fame and even gave him commissions for his art in general. His style is "magnificent" and strongly marked by the idealization of aristocratic effigies. Marie de Medici the future Queen of France and here portrayed in a bust with her head turned to the left. She wears a dress fully embroidered with gold thread and a large flat collar of fine lace. Around her neck a large pearl necklace and especially earrings made of large pear pearls that she particularly liked to wear. We recognize here the young Marie, the oval face and the very “Habsburg” lips. She has a white complexion, small eyes and brown hair. She must be around 24 years old, just before her marriage to Henri IV. Payment facilities on request Very good state of conservation. Sold with invoice & certificate" |
