  • Left: Coat of arms of María Hurtado de Mendoza y Luna, youngest daughter of Diego Hurtado de Mendoza (Guadalajara, 25 de septiembre 1417-Manzanares el Real, 25 de enero de 1479) señor de la Casa de Mendoza y de la Vega, titulado I duque del Infantado, II marqués de Santillana, II conde del Real de Manzanares y IV señor de Hita y Buitrago, de las hermandades de Álava y de los valles de Asturias de Santillana (the II Marquis of Santillana and I Duke of Infantado), by his wife Brianda de Luna, hija de Juan Hurtado de Mendoza y Castilla,5​ señor de Mendívil, de Mártioda, de Morón de Almazán, de Gormaz y de Nanclares, prestamero mayor de Vizcaya, y de su segunda mujer María de Luna,5​ además de nieta paterna de Juan Hurtado de Mendoza el Mozo, II señor de Almazán, y de su esposa María Téllez de Castilla, II señora de Castañeda e hija de Tello de Castilla. Arms of Mendoza, Duke of Infantado impaling Luna with a bordure of panelas. She was the mother of Friar Fernando Fernández de Córdova y Mendoza (d.1550), Clavero of the Order of Calatrava, the founder of the Universidad de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, a Dominican institution in the City of Almagro.

The Friar's eldest brother was Diego Fernández de Córdoba y Mendoza (1460-1525)
  • The Cross at bottom is thus either the Cross of Calatrava (also in the arms of the City of Almagro), or the Dominican Cross, both similar. The building works concluded in 1538 and its final occupation took place in 1539
