Summary
[edit]DescriptionAlberta Government House Alberta Room Pano.tif |
English: This is the Alberta Room on the third floor of Government House, the former residence of the first six Lieutenant Governors of Alberta. Formerly maids quarters, the walls were knocked down and the room was converted to a large conference area. Currently it is used as meeting space for the tory caucus. It seems there isn't a room large enough in the Legislature Building to fit the large Conservative majority.
The room and ceiling were designed to be acoustically perfect, doing away with the need for any sort of microphones or amplification. The Government House tour guide explained that during one of the first caucus meetings to be held in the room, two female assistants were (so they thought) quietly discussing amongst themselves who was the best looking fellow in the room. Unbeknownst to them, the acoustics carried their voices right across the room to Premier Peter Lougheed, who rose and told them in no uncertain terms that he, in fact, was the best looking chap in that particular government. Stitched from 6 frames using hugin. |
