[edit]Description1974 AMC Javelin in Diamond Blue at 2024 AMO meet 09of14.jpg |
English: 1974 AMC Javelin - a "Blue Diamond" (paint code - E1) original with a matching interior in blue. 1974 was the last year this high-performance pony was built by American Motors Corporation. The automobile marketplace had changed with the Arab oil embargo and declining interest in high-performance vehicles. In 1974, Chrysler also abandoned the pony car market while the Ford Mustang became a four-cylinder version of the sub-compact Pinto, and GM downsized their standard engines.
This car has just over 6,000 miles! It is factory-fresh! Original features include AMC's 360 CID (5.9 L) V8 engine, center console with "stirrup" shifted automatic transmission, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo radio, and AMC's combination tachometer and clock (Tick-Tach) full instrumentation, sports-type three-spoke steering wheel, and 14-6-inch styled steel road wheels with F70x14 Goodyear Polyglass raised white letter tires. It has the enlarged bumper guard system required for cars sold in California, Georgia, Maryland, and North Carolina. 1974 was the first year of the 5-mph bumper standards, but the Javelin was exempt from incorporating the shock-absorbing bumper systems. A natural "diamond" of a car! The rear "ducktail" spoiler from the AMX model has been added to this car. This AMX design feature was not available on regular Javelins from the factory. Likewise, the Javelins had available "Rally" side stripes (optional without the full vinyl body-side scuff molding, which this car has), but the hood "T" stripe was available on only the AMX version.
