Notes Andachtsbild, das für die Florentiner Bankiersfamilie Medici. Hierauf verweist neben dem im Norden ungebräuchlichen Bildtypus der Sacra Conversazione das Lilienwappen von Florenz, vor allem aber die Auswahl der die Madonna begleitenden Heiligen: Cosmas und Damian, die heiligen Ärzte, waren die Familienpatrone der Medici. Dazu waren Petrus und Johannes d. T. die Namenspatrone zweier führender Mitglieder der Sippe, Piero und Giovanni de’ Medici.
