Summary
[edit]Description12th-century Visnu temple Janjgir Chhattisgarh, ruins in early 20th century.jpg |
English: The original archival photo of this Vishnu temple in Janjgir was taken in late 19th-century and published in 1906 by A.H. Nelson's report on Central Provinces of British India.
It is a 12th-century temple dedicated to Visnu at the western side of a small Bhima lake in Janjgir (Champa). Now partially restored and an active temple for pilgrims, it features the original intricate reliefs of Vaishnavism, Shaivism and Shaktism traditions of Hinduism. It is locally called as Nakta mandir or Nakata mandir. This is a photograph of a personally owned archive and a 2D work whose copyright has expired worldwide. Therefore wikimedia commons PD-Art license rules apply. Any rights I have as a photographer, I herewith donate it to wikimedia commons, under Creative Commons 4.0 license. |
