Fletcher, Bookbinding in England and in France, pl III on Valerii maximi dictorum factorumque memorabilium libri IX, Anvertpiae, 1574; H. B. Wheatley, Les reliures remarquables du Musée Britannnique, p. 86-87, pl. XXXIX, on Valerii Maximi dictorum factorumque memorabilium libri IX, Antverpiae, ex officina Christophori Plantini, 1574). Owned one of the most famous libraries of his time whose catalogue printed in 1679. Three coat-of- arms: when he was bachelor, with his first wife Marie de Barbançon married in 1587 and in 1601 with Gasparde de La Chastre.
