Summary
English: Clover nodule bacteria. Phase contrast. These bacteria, of the order of Rhizobiales are capable of fixing atmospheric nitrogen and producing organic nitrogen-containing substances necessary for protein synthesis and plant growth. They are unique in that they live in symbiosis with many leguminous plants. These bacteria infect the root system of legumes, forming growths (nodules) on it. Bacteria deliver ammonia or ready-made amino acids to the plant, in turn receive organic acids from the plant as an energy source. Тhey have a strange shape. This form is called a bacteroid - a special resting form found in bacteria of the order of Rhizobiales. At the bacteroid stage, the bacteria have the largest nitrogen-fixing activity.
