Карабахский историк Мир Мехти Хазани пишет, что: “Панах Хан воздвиг себе дворец наподобие маленькой крепости со стенами и башнями “, а в 1768 г. рядом построил “красивый дворец” старшему сыну Ибрагим Хану. Согласно русским архивным материалам, существовало еще два замка. Одину восточного края крепости, другой – в северо-восточном углу. Позже на холме у

Гянджинских ворот появляется внутри крепостная цитадель с комплексом оборонительных стен и башен. На территории цитадели разместились ханские дворцы. Назначение других сооружений цитадели не выяснено. Цитадель хорошо видна на рисунке В.В.Верещагина, сделанном в 1865 году.
