Summary
[edit]DescriptionÇanakkale Nusret mine layer in 2004 4932.jpg |
English: The picture seems to show (being from before 2011) an earlier replica which stood on land. The original mine layer played an important role in the Dardanelles Campaign. In the Naval Museum we see the TCG NUSRET, a one-to-one-size "replica" of the Nusret Mine Ship, built in 2011 by the Gölcük Shipyard Command, still serves as a museum in Çanakkale today. The original was used after WW I for several purposes. It capsized off the coast of Mersin in 1990. Nusret, which was brought to the surface by a group of volunteers in 1999, was turned into a monument by the Tarsus Municipality in 2003. |
