The original mine layer played an important role in the Dardanelles Campaign. In the Naval Museum we see the TCG NUSRET, a one-to-one-size "replica" of the Nusret Mine Ship, built in 2011 by the Gölcük Shipyard Command, still serves as a museum in Çanakkale today. The original was used after WW I for several purposes. It capsized off the coast of Mersin in 1990. Nusret, which was brought to the surface by a group of volunteers in 1999, was turned into a monument by the Tarsus Municipality in 2003.
Several pictures seem to show (being from before 2011) an earlier replica which stood on land.
