Description |
English: 'H.M.S. Repulse The First Flight from a Turret, October 1917' Signed by the artist. A good depiction of the Sopwith Pup N6453, piloted by Squadron Commander F. J. Rutland, taking off the 'B' turret ramp of the battle-cruiser 'Repulse' (1916) at 10.00 on 1 October 1917. The ship's speed was 24 knots on course 145°, four miles east-by-north of Inchkeith in the Firth of Forth. There is no sign of the little windsock that was fitted to the muzzle of the left gun of 'B' turret on this occasion. |
