Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "A Raggy Two-Step". And a very nice composition from Charles J. Gillen, the only one we've found of his. Published by Theodore Morse in New York City in 1910. Here's some info on Gillen found by Musescore researcher Erlingl. He was born in New York in 1885 and died there in 1954 - “retired bandmaster and veteran vaudeville pianist. He also served as pianist for Grace La Rue and other celebrities of the vaudeville stage”. 1910: Charles J. Gillen is the author of the latest instrumental hit, “The Melody Man,” which promises to share popularity with that other ragtime effusion, “The Piano Man”. Seems to have been a musical family, he had a brother, Frank J. Gillen (1889 – 1971), also musician and composer. And another brother, Silas Gillen (1894 – 1953), “First Class Musician”. This is a reproduction of the original score.
