"The sitter is identified as Empress Marie-Thérèse d'Autriche (1717-1780) on a hand-written collector's label on the stretcher. The portrait epitomizes 18th century portraiture of royalty figures, featuring a confident woman looking straight at the viewer. Her attire and the pearls in her hair emphasize her status of nobility." [1]

Notes "previously housed in an oval frame. The portrait has undergone significant restoration. It was relined and UV light reveals several areas of in-paintings, including in the background, on the sitter's face and garment. The painting was also cleaned just a few months ago."
