I regret not uploading this score a couple of months ago when doing Julia Niebergall's three rags. It was her first published piece in 1905, at the age of 19, and it would have been good to see her progression through to her final rag in 1914. This completes the set of four of her works which includes this march-rag and her three rags, filed in my new set "Julia Lee Niebergall". See this link for all four scores: https://musescore.com/user/36482158/sets/5127053 Here is what Perfessor Bill Edwards has to say about Clothilda: "Julia's first piece, Clothilda, was published by Carlin & Lennox in Indianapolis in 1905. Labeled as a march, there are many implied syncopations throughout the A section and the Trio in the form of a sixteenth at the end of the first half of the measure followed by a sixteenth rest, which essentially has the same musical effect as a tied sixteenth from beat one into beat two. There are a few cakewalk rhythms present as well, making this more of a piano rag." Original score source was from Indiana University at this link: http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/inharmony/detail.do?action=detail &fullItemID=/isl/sheetmusic/isl-abs-6497 If you're looking for a downloadable pdf copy try this link instead: https://www.scribd.com/doc/208768329/Clothilda-by-Julia-Lee-Niebergall This is a reproduction of the original score. No changes were made other than to add a flat to the second RH chord at measure 103. |
