English: Ebola is the term for the viral genus Ebolavirus (EBOV), or for the disease Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF). It is named after the Ebola River, where the first recognized outbreak occurred. Electron micrographs show long filaments, characteristic of the Filoviridae viral family.
