Help:Contents

I suggest include very visible a link to Help:Contents. This is the basic startpoint for newbies. --BoldLuis (talk) 14:55, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

@BoldLuis: Hi, it is currently linked in the sidebar (i.e. the "Help center" link).  Hazard SJ  01:54, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Sandbox Giuseppe Pauri

Hello, I would kindly need to know how to connect the Wikimediacommons to Giuseppe Pauri's Sandbox, having to insert a gallery of photos taken by me, such as other painters for example. thank you --La più bella fontana del villaggio (talk) 09:58, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

@La più bella fontana del villaggio: Please post this question on the Village pump itself. - dcljr (talk) 00:23, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Village pumps for other languages

Why are we hiding "Village pumps for other languages" behind a link? If someone doesn't speak English, they will probably never notice that, and might not understand it if the did, but would certainly recognize the name of their own language if it were directly visible. Also, the current way, the language names aren't searchable. - Jmabel ! talk 17:43, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

When you change your language, you get a second link with this language. For me it looks like this:
Deutsch · English · 🌐

--Redrobsche (talk) 15:34, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

For me it's just that same symbol plus a "Village pumps for other languages" link. But in any case: why not just show all the languages? We get a detectable number of people here who are looking for help and who aren't logged in at all or who are beginners who wouldn't have known to set a language, and they are exactly the ones who most need to see something letting them know that there might be a better place to go to ask a question in, say, Turkish. - Jmabel ! talk 17:56, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • @Jmabel: I can see the full list of languages on the side bar, using Monobook (and I suspect you do too) — both in the Commons VP and in all WMP project pages that have an iw link list (those many I clicked my preferences to use Monobook, that is, since centralized preferences is still lacking). The question is why is the default view, for both unlogged users and those logged in but “unconcerned”, goes to great lengths to hide off this true treasure of diversity range. Apparently because handheld devices have tiny screens — but that explanation adds more questions than answers. -- Tuválkin 07:12, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

Movement Strategy - What Are Your Choices For Implementation

Hi everyone,

The time has come to put Strategy into work and everyone's invited to participate.

The Movement Strategy Design Group and Support Team are inviting you to organize virtual meetings with the Commons community before the end of October. The aim is for you to decide what ideas from the Movement Strategy recommendations respond to your needs and will have an impact in the movement. The recommendations are available in different formats and in many languages. There are 10 recommendations and close to 50 recommended changes and actions or initiatives. Not everything will be implemented. The aim of prioritization is to create an 18-month implementation plan to take some of the initiatives forward starting in 2021.

Prioritization is at the level of your community. Think local and relevant! Regional and thematic platforms are great ways to prepare and share ideas. Afterwards, we will come together in November to co-create the implementation plan. More information about November’s global events will be shared soon. For now and until the end of October, organize locally and share your priorities with us.

You can find guidance for the events, the simple reporting template, and other supporting materials here on Meta. You can share your results directly on Meta, by email, or by filling out this survey. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or comments, strategy2030@wikimedia.org

We would love to hear from you and will be hosting office hours to answer any questions you might have, Thursday October 1 at 14.00 UTC (Google Meet).

Anyone have experience with 30 x 173 mm ammunition...

I uploaded File:30 x 173mm Caliber Ammunition -b.jpg, an image of nine 30 mm rounds of different types. Two, labelled the MK238 and PGU15 have identical markings. I suspect they are in fact identical, and one of them is mislabelled. Is there anyone here who has experience with this kind of ammunition? If the rightmost one is mislabelled it could just be cropped out.

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 05:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

The PGU15 is an older round, the Mk310 PABM is more modern. I suspect they didnt have a Mk310 picture when putting together that photo for the army some 7 years ago (the exact same grafic is in the "2013 weapons system handbook" ) so they used the PGU15 twice. I only know blueish PG15-versions though with one or two with bands [1], the Mk310 should look like this. Alexpl (talk) 08:45, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
