Split/Merge

We made small changes of the categories as below per IRC meeting 2016-03-18:

• Split Interiors and details (189) to:

  "Interiors and details" and "Interiors of religious buildings"

• Merge "Bones, shells and fossils" (14) to:

  "Objects, shells and miscelloaneous" ("Objects, rocks and miscelloaneous", last year)

• Split "Objects, rocks and miscellaneous" (101 + Bones 14) to:

  "Sculptures and reliefs" and "Objects, shells and miscellaneous"

How to vote?

You need at least 76 edits at 2015-12-31 on a single wiki. As you do not had this edit count at the time specified, you cannot vote in this year's picture of the year contest. However, I see you recently got active so I'd invite you to return next year and vote in POTY 2016. If you do not trust me, just check your control panel under Eligibility. I can't vote either, and I'm pretty sure I have more than 76 edits. The page load, then brings up the "you can vote for more than one picture" pop-up, and that doesn't go away. Waited 60s and re-tried several times. Tenbergen (talk) 14:27, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

@Tenbergen: That's weird. When I mimic to be you, it takes 3s to determine that You are eligible to vote because you have 76+ edits on enwiki before 1.1.2016, 00:00:00.

Can you tell me which browser you are using and whether you have enabled noscript or a similar browser add-on? Thanks in advance.

As for the time being, you could disable the POTY gadget and vote manually: Disable the PictureOfTheYearEnhancements gadget now! -- Rillke^(q?) 14:43, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Firefox 45.0.1. I have Privacybadger and it had set Wikipedia to a high threat. When I moved it to cookies only I could get to the voting. I have not had to enable things to work on wikipedia before. Tenbergen (talk) 15:53, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Maybe this is related to the use of JSONP (cross-origin JavaScript requests from Commons to Wikipedia). When I have time to, I look into how to mitigate the issue and I might need your help again at the time it has been fixed to verify it's really working. Updated the software so it doesn't send the Cookies with their requests to other connected wikis. This will hopefully have an appeasing effect on Privacy Badger. -- Rillke^(q?) 20:09, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

I couldn't work out how to vote until I realised that voting isn't enabled on the three "All or half of 2015 FPs" pages, only on the category and month pages. Now I must locate my selections from the All page on the month pages — hard when these don't have the same picture numbers that can be searched. I see. I'll add a hint to the main gallery page. The reason we can't provide the same sorting is simple: All galleries that voting is enabled on have to be shuffled. -- Rillke^(q?) 10:30, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
