- I believe you are correct, and will make the change. More broadly, I would ask if this page should be merged with Commons:Public art and copyrights in the US, which seems more authoritative? --agr (talk) 13:30, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

- @ArnoldReinhold and Jameslwoodward: Thanks for the responses (I thought I'd get an automatic notification but I guess it doesn't work that way). I'm a little confused about monuments put up from 1978 to March 1989; this page says they're PD if they don't have a copyright symbol and the creator's name, but Commons:Public art and copyrights in the US#1978 to March 1, 1989 makes it sound like 3D artworks don't count as published unless tangible copies are sold. Is there a distinction between statues and other monuments, or am I misunderstanding something else? Nick Number (talk) 01:48, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- @ArnoldReinhold@Jameslwoodward@Nick Number or, merge parts of it to Commons:Freedom of panorama, under a new section titled "Nuances in the panorama freedom – US case", and target to this section. The existing "Nuances in the panorama freedom" section should be retitled "Nuances in the panorama freedom – German case". COM:PACUSA is already detailed enough, and it comes from the analysis of a lawyer who was an intern at Wikimedia before. I don't want that page to be filled with analyses of others, and that page can only be cosmetically modified (like minor updates or grammatical/spelling corrections). - I have just merged important parts of the page to the main Commons:Freedom of panorama page, under new section "Nuances in the panorama freedom – United States case". Some changes I made include using the automated template {{Not-PD-US-expired-min-year}} and splitting information for the 1978-89 works. A cross-reference to COM:PACUSA is crucial so it is at the end of the section. Will redirect Commons:Monuments and copyright in the US to that section moments from now.
