[edit]@Josve05a: Did you take into account that logos of Ukrainian organisations are in public domain per {{PD-UA-exempt}}? I mean exactly logos of Ukrainian organisations, and as far as I remember these files had logos of their respective (Ukrainian) producers. If these logos are not in the public domain, can these files be undeleted with logos blurred (as they were not the main point of these files)? Thanks — NickK (talk) 12:59, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- I'll answer this later tonight. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 16:02, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: Small reminder — NickK (talk) 17:50, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, thanks for the ping. I've been away for a bit. Regarding point (d) in {{PD-UA-exempt}} it refers to "state symbols...and organizations". Reading a (badly; Google) translated version of the actual law, it refers to state/goverment run organizations and enterprises. Something I do not find any evidence of these botte's comapnies were (please prove me worng). Of course can the images be kept if the copyirghted elements in question is blurred/removed (as long as they are in scope as well). --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 16:16, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: No, that's wrong Google translation. The full version in Ukrainian with punctuation is державні символи України, державні нагороди; символи і знаки органів державної влади, Збройних Сил України та інших військових формувань; символіка територіальних громад; символи та знаки підприємств, установ та організацій. This translates to the following list:
- State symbols of Ukraine, government awards;
- symbols and signs of government authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations;
- symbols of territorial communities;
- symbols and signs of enterprises, institutions and organizations.
- There is no restriction that signs of enterprises is limited to state-owned entreprises. The only real restriction is that these should be official signs of registered entreprises (and not signs of trade marks or brands). I cannot say anything on the specific company as long as the file is deleted and I cannot see it. In worst case (if the sign is copyrighted) can it be just blurred or digitally removed? — NickK (talk) 11:17, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: Sorry, one more small reminder — NickK (talk) 08:03, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- That's not how I interpret that, since it is in the same section, logic implies it is meant for state-run enterprises. But I may be way off, and would not be againts a COM:UNDEL request if you were to file one. As for re-uploading a version which is blurred, that's totally cool as long as the file is in COM:SCOPE. If you need a copy of the original file to do so, please notify me and I'll email it to you. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 21:49, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: Thank you for your answer.
- Regarding the law, in Ukrainian adjectives are grammatically accorded with nouns, and the adjective "state" is not accorded with "symbols and signs of enterprises, institutions and organizations". The law itself does not impose any restriction that this should be a government-owned company. This very same article is not restricted to works produced by state but also contains works by other persons or bodies, such as news, transport schedules or telephone directories.
- I have looked in different caches on which logos were on these files and here is what I found:
- On File:Iryska.png it is one of the three trademarks of uk:Ічнянський молочно-консервний комбінат, thus presumably copyrightable indeed. Do I understand correctly that the only original part is the bottle on the logo?
- On File:Zguschene moloko.png it is the logo of Бахмачконсервмолоко. It is a registered company with EDRPOU code 00418188 (register), and the logo on the can is a symbol of a Ukrainian entreprise and should be in public domain. Is there anything else copyrightable depicted?
- Thanks — NickK (talk) 23:13, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
- If I were to draw a painting with a person on it: that part with the person on its own would perhaps be copyrightable, but so would the entire painting. Same case with logo 1. The botle is probable copyrightable on its own, but the entire logo is one work, and therefore copyrightable as a whole. As for logo two, if you belive it is in the public domain, please take that argument to UNDEL. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:12, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: OK, in this case I will ask a question in a different way: would those images be OK if logos were removed? If this is the case I would gladly digitally remove logos, as files will not lose their value without logos of manufacturers — NickK (talk) 21:52, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- I've already answered this question above. Yes, if removed/blurred the image would be ok. I am able to send you a copy of the original file if you do not have a copy of it. Send an email to asking for it (Special:EmailUser/Josve05a), and I'll email you it. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 11:21, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: No, I don't have them, I only have thumbs. I sent you an email, please send them to me. Thanks — NickK (talk) 20:25, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: I sent you edited versions by email. Could you please undelete these files so that I can overwrite them with new versions without logos? Thanks — NickK (talk) 00:34, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
