Canadian law on outdoor mural photos
[edit]In view of the deletion that just occurred at Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Canada, would User:Robkelk, User:SHB2000 and others like to discuss Canadian copyright law on graphic art on the exterior of buildings, in the hope that there won't be more deletions because the Commons guidance will be changed? I'm no copyright law maven but was shocked that these photos were just "deleted per nom", so that we now have no more chance to upload them locally at Wikivoyage. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:10, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- I think clarifying this is extremely important, not just for outdoor murals but also indoor murals. I was just going to upload some public art at a subway station when I saw this — okay, no upload is going to happen. And if our rules were this strict (I’ve never heard of this) why are there any subway murals left at all?
- Meanwhile, actual copyrighted logos are being labelled “public domain” by WMF. Double standard? Al12si (talk) 22:43, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
