Commons talk:Administrators/Requests/HJ Mitchell (de-adminship)

Thank you to those who expressed their opinions in good faith. I recognise that the comment that started this was an error of judgement and that I should have been much more careful in checking my facts before I made such an allegation in public. I also recognise that disappearing when the heat is on looks bad. I really was starting a new job and adjusting to a new shift pattern, and I really was almost completely unreachable, but I apologise to the community for failing to meet the standards it expects of administrators. I fucked up, and I realise that the damage won't be repaired overnight. I may be sporadically active on commons for another couple of weeks, but I will be back and when I am I will do my best to make amends to the community. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:28, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@HJ Mitchell: But you haven't answered 's question at the Comments section... You just instead apologized and thanked to us (which is good), but not answering a question is bad. Don't forget, you can hit two birds with one stone. Anyway, since there was no consensus to de-admin you, take this as a second chance to be more careful and have a good behavior on Commons. Well, let's just move on and start doing something constructive today. Thanks, and have a nice day. Poké95 01:26, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Retraction of accusations by Odder against Elvey and HJ Mitchell

[edit]

At User_talk:Odder#Please_don.27t_make_threats_or_false_accusations, odder agrees to some retractions from the de-RfA. Summary : Odder apologizes for accusing me of making a false accusation and states that he didn't mean to threaten me or scare me away and that he is willing to withdraw his comment that The Photographer was never suspected in that case, contrary to what HJ Mitchell had said. (See that link for his actual words and more context, of course.)--Elvey (talk) 17:44, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Being Shot At

[edit]

I'm realizing that merely by commenting and voting in the de-RfA, I seem to have become an unwitting soldier in a skirmish in battle I didn't even know existed in a war (or wars) I didn't even know existed and can't identify between sides can't identify who don't wear uniforms and I don't even know for sure exist. All I have developed is a hunch that this whole thing seems to be a skirmish related to sides allied for/against Russavia and/or various factions within and without the WMF. I've no idea what any of them fighting for, and not sure I would want to know if I could. What I do know is that I'm a civilian and I don't like being shot at or otherwise treated as a soldier. --Elvey (talk) 17:44, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
