Wiki Loves Monuments Georgia

Wiki Loves Monuments (ქართ: ვიკის უყვარს ძეგლები) is an annual international photographic competition held during the month of September, organised worldwide by the Wikipedia community members with the help of local Wikimedia affiliates across the globe. Participants take pictures of local historical monuments and heritage sites in their region and upload them to Wikimedia Commons. The aim of event is to highlight the heritage sites of the participating countries with the goal to encourage people to capture pictures of these monuments and to put them under a free licence which can then be re-used not only in Wikipedia but everywhere by everyone.

This year, by organisation of Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia's members, Georgia has joined Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 competition.

Start date: 1st September 2016	Upload period: September 2016	End date : 30th September 2016

Decision of Competition: end of October 2016

Prizes

Local contest

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best three photographs:
First Prize: 400₾
Second Prize: 300₾
Third Prize: 200₾
"Barbale" company will organize for the winners one-day tour across Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
Top 10 contributors (by number of photographs) will be rewarded with WLM T-shirt.

International contest

The top 10 national winning photographs will be send for International contest having following prizes below:
There are five prizes available for the international contest:

First Prize One scholarship (travel grant) with a maximum value of €2000 for Wikimania (August 2017, Montreal, Canada)
Second Prize Two €1000 voucher/cash prizes
Third Prize Two €500 voucher/cash prizes.
The top 5 winners of the international contest will be asked to give their preference regarding the prizes.

Conditions

All entries must be your own work
All photos must be uploaded within September 2016, to be eligible
All photos must be licensed CC BY-SA 4.0
Participants must have an active email account, if the organizers wish to contact
Please note, that there is no yet freedom of panorama in Georgia, so you can only upload photos of monuments if the architect died before 1946, or if the building was constructed before this date (if the architect is unknown).
