So what's next?
The WLM-international team is in conversation with Wikimedia Sweden and Wiki Loves Africa to set up a pilot network of local institutions and WLM national organisers in Africa. The pilot will focus on five countries in Africa (Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Uganda) and aims to create a space to foster discussions and to help the WLM community find viable solutions and support in creating a more equitable competition.
After two years with little to no personal contact because of the pandemic, the WLM-international team will get together in person again, and aims to develop a multi-year strategy for WLM in the upcoming years. The results of this study will be one of the topics to be discussed and kept in mind for future strategic implementation.
