[edit]Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photographic contest organized annually at Wikimedia Commons to document folk cultures in different regions of the world. Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 is a continuation of Wiki Loves Folklore 2021 with the theme of folk culture. The origin of the project started in 2018 from Commons:Wiki Loves Love 2019 in the theme of ceremonies and festivals of love.
The basic aim of the competition is to collect photos of human cultural diversity to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. The photos provided must match the theme, although the contest is not limited to any official list of protected areas, which means that most users will be able to find several pertaining subjects close to theme, whether festivals, dances, cuisine, clothing or daily life routine emphasizing on folk culture of that area.
This photography contest is focused on folk culture of different regions on categories, such as, but not limited to, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folklore, and tradition, including ballads, folktales, fairy tales, legends, traditional song and dance, folk plays, games, seasonal events, calendar customs, folk arts, folk religion, mythology etc.
The contest is being organized by the Wikimedia Community User Group Kenya

- Deadline for submissions: February 28, 2022 23:59 UTC.
- Results Declaration: around April 14, 2022
Prizes

- 1st runner up = $100

How do I participate?

Everybody is allowed to participate, regardless of age, nationality and place of living, given he/she agrees to publish their work under Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
- In order to participate in the contest, one needs
- to have an account at Wikimedia Commons;
- take pictures of the Kenyan culture;
- Upload pictures at Commons. Don't forget to add the Category:Images from Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 in Kenya
