Meet Shariffa, a woman divorced who lives with her two kids in Mafia Island. The Island is in Tanzania with a population of just over forty thousand people.

Here she is photographed making thatches to fix the roof of her house as the rain season is just around the corner.

Shariffa is different from other women in Mafia because she doesn’t have a husband to support her, so she gets up everyday to sell fish around the island in order to get money to feed her kids.

Then she comes home and work on small activities around the house like cleaning.
