Welcome to Told Cities photography campaign, organized by the Centro Regional de Patrimonio CERPA and Wiki World Heritage User Group!
Theme: UNESCO World Heritage cities!
UNESCO World Heritage cities are rich mosaics composed of buildings, streets, people and cultural practices. However, these diverse components
are often under-documented on Wikimedia projects.
In Guatemala, the Antigua Guatemala was inscribed by UNESCO in 1979. The aim of this campaign is to document all the tangible and intangible components of these cities.
Photos can range from general views of the sites to specific details, architectural elements,
and human activity within the site.
[ Know more about Antigua Guatemala! ]
Founded in the early 16th century, Antigua was the capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala and its cultural, economic, religious, political and educational centre until a devastating earthquake in 1773. Its principal monuments have been preserved largely as ruins and are an excellent example of Spanish colonial architecture.
