Context
[edit]The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children's museum in the world and a leader in family learning. The museum's permanent collection of over 110,000 objects is subdivided into the American Experience Domain, the Natural Domain, and the Cultural Domain. Objects and exhibits cover a variety of topics, from paleontology and archaeology to astronomy, world cultures, and American history.
Presentation
[edit]In February and March of 2011, The Children's Museum will upload the first set of a series of images as part of a larger content donation and ongoing relationship with Wikimedia. The first set of images were hand chosen by collections staff and vetted by a variety of departments to ensure that they are free of copyright restrictions. The images include best-of-type representations of the museum's permanent collection and will be useful for a number of sources within Wikimedia.
Other images affiliated with this ongoing collaboration include those taken by Wikipedians during Backstage Pass events occurring in 2010 and 2011.
