2100 Keikyu

Rationale, discussion and results

[edit]

Reason: All of these accounts show identical behaviour in that they first upload a batch of images of Japanese trains within a relatively short time period with no EXIF data (most of which have since been deleted as proven copyright violations lifted from various Twitter accounts). The Japanese descriptions all show similar wording style. The only images with EXIF data are all poorer quality images taken with an iPhone 6 Plus, which are presumably the user's own photos. Each image is then promptly added by the same user to as many related Wikipedia articles as exist in different languages, as well as the corresponding Wikidata article.

Why is this a problem? Because, while none of the accounts has been blocked for uploading copyright violations, the user appears to switch to or create new accounts repeatedly to continue uploading images of suspicious origin - i.e. taken from Twitter - and future uploads need to be prevented. --DAJF (talk) 02:49, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is Confirmed. What do you suggest to happen with the images, do all uploads have to be deleted? --Krd 09:03, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking. I would suggest that all of the remaining images without EXIF data that were uploaded by these accounts should be deleted as suspected Twitter copyright violations. The accounts 2100 Keikyu and AQUSPhone (which actually appears to be the first created account) do have some images with EXIF data which appear to be the own work of the user, and I see no problem with keeping them on Commons. (Google image search turns up no evidence that they were taken from external websites.)
I've listed the status of the accounts below.
Presumably the sock accounts will all be blocked, but maybe AQUSPhone (the oldest and also most recently active account) can be allowed to continue contributing to Commons on the understanding that any future uploads of copyright images or creation of any more new user accounts will result in permanent blocking. --DAJF (talk) 12:51, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done as suggested. --Krd 08:39, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
