QICbot will largely automate the archival and promotion process on Commons:Quality images candidates. This page currently has a bit of a back log and the whole process is geared towards high throughput in identifying and tagging as many high quality images as possible. The automation of tedious housekeeping work will greatly simplify this process. The bot is written in python using the pywikipedia framework and will run regularly from my toolserver account. The bot is announced on Commons talk:Quality images candidates and I anticipate general acceptance :-). Preliminary tests of the archiving component can be seen here and here. - Support -- this bot addresses the issues of delays in archiving, tagging and notifying. all of which have a been a problem since its inception in June 2006(something I should have considered when starting QI) as the current system is time consuming and relies on the efforts of editors. - No issues, based on test runs looking good.... This strikes me as a very good thing. If you can also do the notification of users and placing the QI banner on images, that would be even niftier. Very well done, thanks for the efforts! ++Lar: t/c 15:50, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Notifications and tagging are implemented, but not yet tested. The source code is up for peer review here. --Dschwen 16:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
