I would like to translate the interface into Slovak. At this time I don't intend to participate in other admin activities.
I've been an admin on sk:wikipedia since 9/2005. Besides other activities, I keep on updating slovak interface translation there. I recently joined betawiki to help translating LanguageSk.php. I already translated some commons pages into Slovak (it was some time ago) and some Picture of the Day Slovak titles. ~~helix84 20:04, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

- Oppose What about participating first at the Commons:Help page maintenance? Slovak is much underepresented there and translating pages first is much more important than some interface strings (you need some slovak content which you want to link in the interface). You don't need to be an admin in order to give your language a great favour there. I'd be really happy if you can join there. Arnomane 01:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

- Oppose That is the single only thing you're interested in? We can easily install the translation, you don't need admin status for that alone. We need admins who will do dirty work and work with their language community as well. ACK Arnomane. pfctdayelise (translate?) 04:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, my interests lie with sk:wikipedia and that's pretty much all I would have time to do. I'm just being honest with you. I'm of course already taking care of introducing people from sk: to commons and helping them with it. That I don't need an account to translate pages I know, but I'd do this month what I neglected so far and want to have access to MediaWiki: namespace. ~~helix84 09:41, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- It's good that you're being honest, but really -- you can just post the translations on my talk page or the village pump. They will get updated straight away. id.wp just did this today, it doesn't need an admin for the translation itself. pfctdayelise (translate?) 13:29, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well you can support people from sk.wp best if you translate Commons:First steps into slovak now. This is what we need not a slovak interface pointing into english articles, which doesn't help anybody. Interface strings are just a very very minor aspect wich can be done with a short request as Pfctdayelise did suggest it to you. Arnomane 17:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

- Agree to what? I'm translating help pages already and I'm well aware that I don't need to be an admin to submit interface tranlations. But I want to do it because of the long compile-run-test cycle in case I'm not. ~~helix84 21:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Long compile-run-test cycles? For interface strings? Surely not. I just did some Indonesian ones last week and it is very straightforward. pfctdayelise (translate?) 08:04, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- 1-2 days, as for my last experience with updating Belarusian translation. --EugeneZelenko 15:01, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I give up cadidacy as I accomplished most of interface translation with help of Arnomane on IRC. Thank you for your votes. ~~helix84 12:33, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
