Hello, I'm the user that a few weeks ago went by the username drini and come today to request permission to use the oversight flag.

I want to lend a hand on the oversight side of maintenance, motivated after a request on the stewards channel. I've been sysop and checkuser for quite some time. As part of my steward and checkuser roles I've already provided and verified my identity to the foundation. Feel free to drop me a comment anytime, I'll keep trying to assist community as I've always done. Thank you -- Drini 04:10, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1.  Support Like before, This user is already a steward, but he's active here. We need less emergency actions because of inactive Oversighters. Techman224Talk 04:13, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am afraid I would not have called this situation an emergency. The proper channels were not even attempted. Tiptoety talk 05:06, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  2.  Support I normally try and stay away from commenting at requests if I am actively standing for the same or similar role, but I have worked with drini as an admin and as a steward, and even if the commons community decides that my services as an oversighter are not necessary at this time, I think drini would make an excellent addition to the commons oversight team. -- Avi (talk) 04:29, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  3.  Support - Who is "Magister Mathematicae"?! Oh, I see. While not especially active locally, I think the user is capable of helping out quite a bit with an additional set of tools. –Juliancolton | Talk 04:32, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  4.  Neutral - Magister Mathematicae is not particularly active here, and like I said on Avi's request above there is not that great of a need. I'm a tad worried that Magister Mathematicae is already run a bit thin with userrights on other projects. Tiptoety talk 04:45, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't mind lending a hand. Basically it irks me when someone comes for help and I'm not able to help due to rules. But I got no problem either withdrawing the nomination if it's a problem, and I understand your concern. As I said, I just want to be able to help when I'm asked to (and in any case as it happened tonight, I still can perform OS from my steward flag if no oversighters are around). I truly appreciate your feedback, Tiptoety, thank you. -- Drini 05:01, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Magister Mathematicae/Drini, please understand I trust you and have no doubts that you would use the tool appropriately and am not asking you to withdraw. I just feel that the specific situation which brought both Avi and yourself here was, 1) not an emergency (hence a steward really should not have become involved), and 2) could have been handled quickly if an email would have been sent to the OS mailing list. Additionally, I would like to see someone a bit more active fill this role if we truly need a few more helping hands. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 05:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I didn't know OS requests were so rare as you point on the other candidacy (less than a monthly one), I withdraw my candidacy as I was under a misunderstanding about the OS activity level. ¿Do you know the proper way to close this request? -- Drini 05:11, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
