Mobile A2K: Resources, Interfaces and Content on Urban Transformations is a project launched in 2009 to support the development of innovative tools for education and to promote the creation of content on urban transformation. In its first phase (2009-2011) the project supported three organisations based in Africa in the development of Chimurenga Chronicle: a speculative, future-forward newspaper that travels back in time to re-imagine the present”. Back-dated to May 18-24 2008, it is a magazine which reports on xenophobic violences in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. The magazine is conceived and published by Chimurenga. Pedagogical Suitcase: a technological toolkit to learn how to create interactive works using open source software and hardware, created by Kër Thiossane. Douala Ville d'Art et d'Historie: a digital and analog map of Douala, accessible via mobile phone, created by Doual’Art. In its second phase (2011-2013) the project focused on the culture and safety in Africa with the development of the research project Mobile Access to Knowledge: Culture and Safety in Africa.
