- Info created by a border committee (names are in the upper left corner of the image, but some are a little hard to decipher) - digitized by the National Archive of Norway - uploaded by Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) - nominated by Jon Harald Søby (talk) 02:20, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Support Wow. Absolutely stunning. It took me a while to download the full resolution file, but it was certainly worth it! --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 04:16, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Great, but you should create and nominate a JPEG version instead. TIFF format is useful for archiving, but not practical for actual display. Regards, Yann (talk) 07:31, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I can help with creating the JPEG version … --Aristeas (talk) 09:59, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- … or more exactly, I have already created a JPEG version, but it’s tricky to get the server to accept it – even a JPEG file in reduced quality is huge because JPEG compression is not very effective with this kind of image ;–). Asking for your patience … --Aristeas (talk) 10:26, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- What about png? Buidhe (talk) 10:40, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Good idea, but it does not help in this case, a PNG is not smaller (and always renders somewhat strange on Commons). We have already got the TIFF file for the archival version, so IMHO for preview usage here and in articles a JPEG file is still the best solution. And it has worked now :–). We can trick the server by first uploading a downscaled version and then uploading over it the full resolution with the help of this tool. --Aristeas (talk) 10:53, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Aristeas: You shouldn't need to upload a downscaled version first, BTW. All you have to do is to go to the not-yet-existing file page for a new file, and click the "upload (chunked)" link in the "Create" tab. That's how I uploaded the original TIFF file. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 02:22, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Jon Harald Søby: Ah, that's the trick! Thank you very much! It’s great that one can learn something new here everyday … ;–). --Aristeas (talk) 10:08, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I have taken the liberty to change this nomination to link the new JPEG version of the picture. I hope this is OK for everybody and that all links have been updated correctly. Hope it helps, --Aristeas (talk) 11:01, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the help with this, Aristeas! Much appreciated. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:35, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Support Very impressive map in giant resolution. @Jon Harald Søby: Could you please add an English translation of the Norwegian description to the description both of the archival file and of the compressed file? Thank you very much! --Aristeas (talk) 11:01, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Comment While I "have you all here", could I ask for some help to decipher the names of the committee members who made the map? Their signatures are in the bottom of the top left "box" of the map, but I also uploaded just the signatures to Imgur for convenience. What I can make out is: Lars And:[ers/reas?] Skodal (not sure about the "k"); Jörgen N. Holm; Nicolai ?: Krogh (no idea about the middle initial); Gustaf Hallvin (not sure about the "v"); Eric Wetterstedt (not sure about the "d"); Gabr:[iel] Berns:[???] Westman (not sure about the middle name at all). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:55, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- "Lars And: Thodal, Jörgen N: Holm, Nicolai F: Krogh, Gustaf Halldin, Eric Wetterstedt, Gabr: Bend: Westman" – as for the abbreviated middlenames, you could ask someone who's familiar with Norwegian history of the 18th century (although the 18th century is my field of expertise, I could only help w/ French and German names of that time period). E.g. your guess of "And:" → "Anders" sounds reasonable, but you might want to ask an expert about other common names of that time that would fit. Hope that helps. Heia Norge! --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:25, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
