[edit]

SOHO images are not free, see here.

No doubt that by the wording on the site, these are not for commercial reuse, but they make no mention of no derivative use, they even go so far as to encourage reuse. Do you know if there is there any reasoning behind the no commercial use mention on the site? I can hardly see anyone using these images for some for-profit venture, so I was just curious if anyone had inquired from the center if they had legal reasons or other reasons for leaving out all reuse being okay with them. Deleted: Jasonanaggie, One of our global problems is that a lot of people and institutions such as SOHO want to keep their images from being used in "some for-profit venture" and don't understand that an NC licensed work has almost no uses. All of the following are commercial:

- Any web site that is run by a for profit company, that solicits contributions, or that has advertising. This leaves only personal web sites that don not have advertising.
- Any print use unless the work is given away free without advertising. This includes text books, unless free at every stage.
- Almost any other educational use unless the school is free.
