LlywelynII (talk · contribs) thinks, that the template is obvious self-promotion. He nominated the file twice for speedy deletion. As the template is used in more than thousand files, I do not want to delete it speedily. Taivo (talk) 09:53, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- The number of pages he has spammed with this is (a) completely irrelevant to its violation of policy and (b) evidence that this is not an unused template in user space that doesn't fall under the (SPEEDY-level) ban on using namespace articles for self-promotion. Do you have any rationale for thinking this template is within policy? — LlywelynII 10:03, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- Looks acceptable per Commons:User-specific_galleries,_templates_and_categories#Acceptable --Denniss (talk) 10:06, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up. I suppose it's fairly uncommon for someone to see one of these things and care, but probably a good idea to add a note to Commons:SPEEDY that there is an exception to that policy. In any case, now I know. — LlywelynII 10:27, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- I think you should strike the bad faith comment, stating he has spammed it on a number of pages is totally wrong. Bidgee (talk) 05:37, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

- Three years ago blanking of the page was reverted by an administrator. Taivo (talk) 10:10, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

- Keep and prefer a discussion with him on his talk page first. I think we had a discussion at VP earlier (years ago) and he said he has no problem in changing the position of that template. We can see wording like "Want to see more works of mine?" in many user templates nowadays. External links to personal websites or Facebook or similar social media is also quite common. So I failed to see anything more promotional here. Note that we failed to disallow even watermarks on all uploads in Commons. Jee 12:09, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- Keep I don't see anything wrong with the template, he has donated a lot of quality photographs which have became FP. Why shouldn't they be allowed to link to their personal page, whether it is a personal site or a social media page. Maybe the wording needs to be adjusted, it doesn't mean that it should be deleted. Bidgee (talk) 05:37, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- The only wording change that (in my opinion) one may improve is to replace 'subscribe' with 'visit'. --Denniss (talk) 10:06, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Kept: per Commons:User-specific galleries, templates and categories#Acceptable. If you feel that the text should be changed for language reasons, ask the user or be bold - however, that is not a reason to delete it. --Josve05a (talk) 01:58, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
