- @Waldir: @Closeapple: it comes to be unused because it's not meant to be used as an active template, it's meant to be substed into categories to populate a different template. -mattbuck (Talk) 13:56, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

- You're right — I should have made myself clearer: I had indeed read the documentation, but was unable to find categories where this template had been used. I suppose the documentation could link to one or two, as an example, as well as provide an example of a concrete set of parameters, such as
{{subst:ybyc|2|0|1|4|Westminster}}, which produces: {{year by category |m=2 |c=0 |d=1 |y=4 |cat=in Westminster |sortkey=Westminster |subcat=2014 in {{{6}}} }} [[Category:History of Westminster|2014]]. - If you point me to one or two such categories, I'd gladly complete the documentation myself. --Waldir talk 14:28, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- What the... where'd the {{{6}}} come from? Anyway, there are a lot of categories created by it, but I'm afraid I can't definitely point to any (it is after all substed), but I'd imagine the following:

{{{6}}}comes from. If you add{{subst:ybyc|1|9|8|5|the City of Westminster}}to a page and preview the result, it does show up. (I just tried it here to confirm, and in Category:1985 in the City of Westminster as well, just to be sure.) --Waldir talk 11:08, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
