Photographs of Heisman Trophy

[edit]

Derivative works - the Heisman Trophy was designed by sculptor Frank Eliscu in 1935, and so is still under copyright since he died in 1996; it's extremely unlikely that any of the uploaders represent his heirs. No FOP in the US, but doesn't matter anyway since trophies are not permanently installed in a public place. •  Keep I don't think it is a delete, although rather than just closing this as a keep, I'd like comments from Dcoetzee and Trycatch, as I don't like going the other way against experienced editors, particularly since there are some odd points here.
Try this on for size -- the trophy has been given since 1935. As I understand it, each winner gets a copy with his name on it and his school also gets one. I know that "publication" of sculpture, in the technical sense of the word, is a difficult area, but surely 150+ copies given out is publication. There is no evidence of notice, registration (before 2007) or renewal of this 1935 work so it should be PD.
Admittedly I don't understand the 2007 registration -- it calls out a 1935 creation -- I don't see any way the facts would allow it.
