Author died 1946. Could probably have been deleted straight away, but since they were found on Project Runeberg, a second opinion would be a good thing. --Cnyborg 12:44, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, according to Template_talk:PD-US, Commons has the rule that a work must be PD in its source country and in the U.S. to be eligible for upload to the commons under any PD tag. The drawings are not PD in Sweden. Kjetil r 22:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't make any sense at all. Why should we care about the "source country" when it doesn't affect the copyright status at all? And what does source country mean, precisely? The country where the image was produced? Where it was first published? And there are lots of images like this, take Image:Adolf von Baeyer (Nobel 1905).png for example.  Comment to Haukurth: see COM:L. If an image is to be hosted here under a PD claim, it must be PD in its source country and in the U.S. We also only apply {{PD-US}} to U.S. works, i.e., to works that have the U.S. as their source country.
