No filename, that is listed here, and contains kana, contains one of the letters a, e, i, n, o, or u (except in the “File:” prefix or the “.png” suffix). --84.61.176.82 09:06, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They are unused, have nonsense descriptions, and can be easily converted into TeX

I withdraw my nomination In light of evidence revealed that files are currently in hotlinked use for serious university project (see below), I'm not happy with these being deleted, even though they're arguably not strictly within Commons' scope and should probably be hosted elsewhere in the long term. Ubcule (talk) 22:58, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone figure out what these images are supposed to be for....??!! They appear to have a bizarre cosmetics-related purpose, but not one which is within Commons' legitimate scope. They might also be copyvios.

Many have nonsense descriptions (either random Western letters or- I am guessing- short and opaque descriptions in Japanese). There is no context enabling us to determine what their intended purpose is.

User has already had many images deleted. Can anyone who speaks Japanese help confirm (or refute) the above? Thank you.

Additional; Some or all appear to be from [1] and [2].

Delete Unless adequate source, use or description is provided. Most of the images have incomprehensive file names and descriptions either in Japanese or English. Although some contain what appear like molecular biology terminology, they are practically impossible to use because they provide almost no context. whym (talk) 13:32, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the image might have been contributed by people from http://openwetware.org/wiki/Biomod/2013/Titech/project where some context is found. They hot-link the images, not using InstantCommons for some reasons. (see source, history.) I'm still not sure if we want to accept images for a very specific usage for their project, though. whym (talk) 14:29, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding to my request for help. This confirms my suspicion that the Japanese descriptions were not useful either.
Even with the "openwetware" page, it is difficult for a non-expert to determine which description to apply to each image on Commons.
I had not noticed the images were hotlinked- thank you for spotting this.
I don't want to break their project. Of course, it isn't really Commons' purpose to provide general hosting to images. But this link suggests that it was quite a serious and highly-regarded undergraduate project.
Some personal images on Commons have already been deleted following a previous deletion request last year (this was nothing to do with me). This explains why some of the images on the group members' page are broken.
I think I will try to get further opinion from the community on this. Ubcule (talk) 19:06, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Additional; there is a contact page here that supposedly lets you email the same guy who uploaded the files to here, but you need to have an account at that site to do so. Ubcule (talk) 20:52, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kept. per withdrawal. Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:56, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
