While these files are within scope, I worry about their provenance - that they might be copied from an online textbook or something. That the uploader hasn't categorised them or used them on any pages also makes me wonder if we're just being used as a webhost.

Hello

I was notified that some of the photos I uploaded will be deleted unless "the uploader can clarify source and perhaps explain a bit about current and future potential usage".

I have made these photos and I wanted to categorize them as I am new to Wikimedia so I did not consider that field, but I am not able to edit my photos.

Any help please, instead of deletion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Safwat.alshazly (talk • contribs) 07:19, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Safwat.alshazly, hello, and thanks for getting back to us. I'm sorry that we're suspicious of things, and we're quite happy to help. You should be able to edit file pages the same way you edited my talk page, and you can add categories using the syntax [[Category:Statistics]] or similar. It would be easier though if you enabled the HotCat extension in your preferences (Gadgets > Tools for Categories) - this makes adding categories to images easier, without having to edit the raw wikitext: find out more here.
In the light of Safwat.alshazly's statement, I strike my own deletion comment, however I cannot speak for Nick in this matter. -mattbuck (Talk) 17:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy with that too. Nick (talk) 19:07, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: as per mattbuck and Nick. Daphne Lantier 01:46, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
