Danish police press photos. {{Attribution}} claimed, but I can't find any indication of such on the source website. The source allows use, but makes no mention of derivatives etc. required of a free license.

- Hello. I contacted the Danish Rigspoliti press division via email requesting permission to use the photographs on wikipedia and related sites. I was granted this permission due to the images being public and for press use Fishie000 (talk) 11:32, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Fishie000: "permission to use the photographs on wikipedia and related sites" is rather vague and may not be enough. Our licensing policy requires that image are free to use and modify, and they can't be restricted to only Wikimedia sites. Can you please ask if they are willing to grant an explicit and specific license like CC-BY-SA? MKFI (talk) 14:04, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- They are public images according to the police... They are listed as "Press Photos". Fishie000 (talk) 14:43, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Fishie000: Sadly press photos, while free to use, still often have some restrictions. See "Press photos" under Commons:Copyright_rules_by_subject_matter#Internet_images. MKFI (talk) 16:06, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- @MKFI
- So even with written permission from the people publishing the image. I need to get a insanely COVID-19 busy Police Commissioner to issue me a license to use the image... If so... just take down the god damn images. I have a life and things to do. I'm not gonna sit here and write out 9000 emails and wait 6 months until I finally get my "license". It takes the Danish Police ~MONTHS~ to issue most common licenses due to their insane understaffing

- Now. Do you even understand Danish? How do you understand the "source website"? Have you spoken to the Rigs Police? Do you have a background in European copyright law? Do you understand the fact that the copyright owners permitted me in an email to use those images here? The Chief-Clerk of the Danish Police's Press division gave me written permission.

- Here is a screenshot of the email https://imgur.com/a/yE33Vx8. You are welcome to take a peek and translate it using whatever you undoubtedly used to translate the "source website" Fishie000 (talk) 21:23, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

- @Fishie000: I apologize if I sound unnecessarily harsh or difficult. These are good images and it would be good if we can keep them.
- However, "permission to use the photographs on wikipedia and related sites" may simply not be sufficient to include them here (although it certainly would be for most websites); Commons:Licensing requires images to be usable by anyone, anytime, for any purpose, including someone taking the images and trying to sell them for profit.
- No, I do not speak Danish. You could ask for other Danish speakers to comment on this by asking in Commons:Landsbybrønden or da:Wikipedia:Landsbybrønden. MKFI (talk) 13:07, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- You could also ask for help in Commons:Village pump/Copyright; it is certainly possible that my understanding of the copyright issue is incorrect. MKFI (talk) 13:11, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Deleted: per nomination. The only acceptable way to provide permission is via COM:VRT. We can undelete if this is done. --P 1 9 9 ✉ 14:15, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
