Random PD rationale, no evidence of early enough publication to be considered PD as per COM:Russia.

- Keep All. The ones that fall under PD-RusEmpire. I also don't see why "publication" in Russia doesn't follow other URAA and Berne signatories in meaning "made available to the public". I could see deleting if we had evidence that the images remained with the photographer and were never seen by the public or were never transferred from the photographer to the sitter. Just like paintings, when they are exhibited, they are made public. Or if we have some case law where courts have ruled on the meaning of "made available to the public", like we have in the USA. Most of these images would be PD-Russia. --RAN (talk) 06:35, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- We have case law in the USA about when the copyright clock starts, we had a case where new images of Marilyn Monroe were found with the family of the photographer, and the clock did not start and we have case law where images left the custody of the photographer when they were sent to the sitter, and the copyright clock started. --RAN (talk) 07:21, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): which ones exactly do you consider to fall under PD-RusEmpire? --Xunks (talk) 06:52, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have started to switch pre-1918 images to RussianEmpire. --RAN (talk) 07:22, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): I would like to receive an answer to my question. Of the files above, only one can theoretically be attributed to the time of the Russian Empire, and I am ready to strike it out, despite the fact that PD-RusEmpire also requires proof of publication, and not of creation. --Xunks (talk) 17:05, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

- @Andros64 and TheUzbek: Are we all agreeing that both the PD-Russia and the PD-RussEmpire are to be kept? The licenses should be changed to "PD-Russian Empire" and "PD-Russia". The nominator has reverted the license changes that I have made, I guess they think the current license is correct. --RAN (talk) 17:22, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), this is not voting, especially by single-edit accounts as above. If you continue destructive edits instead of following COM:EVID policy, your activity will be discussed at COM:AN/U. --Xunks (talk) 17:41, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- Keep for File:Architect Ladovsky Nikolai Alexandrovich.jpg, it falls under PD-Russia, number 3, it was first published in "Строительство Москвы". 1935, №5, page 6 and it is pretty unlikely that the author was ever determined between 1935–85.--Carl Ha (talk) 15:16, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
Kept: per discussion. (This does not prejudge renomination of individual images or small groups of images within this request for more specific reason.). --Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 20:12, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
