- Speedy keep These are of course preferred in SVG, and I will work with the user to create SVG files (he has some issues with the software he is using), but they are necessary diagrams that will be used in relevant pages on FA WP in the next week or two. We have a Wikiproject focused on traditional Persian music and these diagrams describe the anatomy of various genres of this music. Huji (talk) 22:48, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Kept: per Huji. Please use the correct templates when you'll have the svg version available. Ruthven (msg) 10:34, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
An audio recording retains its own copyright. So even if the song is old, the performer and the audio recorder both retain copyrights on these songs.

- @Magog the Ogre: The copyright law that applies to these recordings (Iran's copyright law) specifies that a file is in public domain if either the creator has deceased more than 50 years ago, or the creator died more than 30 years before 22 August 2010 (see Template:PD-Iran). The creator of these was fa:نورعلی برومند who died on Jan 19th, 1977; that is 33 years before 22 August 2010, therefore these recordings are in public domain. Huji (talk) 19:10, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Huji: did نورعلی برومند create this specific recording? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:57, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Magog the Ogre: I belive he recorded on vinyl records and cassette tapes. This specific record is of course in OGG format, so cannot be created by him as OGG didn't even exist then. But the MP3 file form which this OGG is created is claimed to be an identical copy of the original work, only digitized. My interpretation of the copyright law is that "digitizing" a vinyl/tape to MP3 format in-and-of-itself does not qualify as "creative work" and is not covered by copyright. It is hard work, for sure, but it involves no creative art. Huji (talk) 01:11, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Huji: No, it usually does not unless it was remastered (subject to jurisdiction and interpretation). I won't fight on the grounds of remastering, though, as it doesn't seem likely. Nonetheless, it sounded suspiciously high quality for a record, like it was someone else singing the song. Are you sure this is the same original recording? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:20, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Unsure. They were probably passed through a noise reduction filter of sorts. I would still not consider them "derivative work" because I believe a "derivative work" is a work that is based on a copyrighted work, but contains new material that is original in the copyright sense. So even if a simple noise reduction filter was used, it would not qualify the work as derivative, IMHO. Huji (talk) 01:38, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Huji: I'm not worried about that part. I just want to make sure this is the version originally sung by the guy you listed above, not someone else. You are infinitely more knowledgeable of Persian culture than I, so if you say you think it is, I will withdraw. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:45, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, I misunderstood the question. Yes, this is that same person. I don't want to age myself, but I know the voice from his cassettes. Huji (talk) 03:28, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Sounds to be modern sound recordings. No evidence of permission(s).

- Keep These are recordings by Noor Ali Boroomand, deceased in 1977, so they are at least from 41 years ago. They are recorded in Iran and are subject to Iran's copyright laws which state that copyright only lasts for 30 years past the author is death if the date of death + 30 years is earlier than 22 August 2010 (in this case, 1977 + 30 = 2007); see en:Template:PD-Iran for more information. - Also, I am finding it annoying that we keep having the same discussion again and again (see above in this same page). Can we please find a way to avoid this in the future? (e.g. can we agree on a piece of text in English to be added to these files' description so that the next person who gets tempted to nominate them for deletion would know better?) - Keep @Huji: I added {{Copyright notes|Iran}}. Don't know if it'll help. - Alexis Jazz 00:40, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
