Files of User:Football3r

[edit]

Nottingham Forest

Preston North End

Birmingham City

These files were uploaded by User:Football3r as their own work. This may well be the case, but they're also used on football club official websites as the image on each player's profile, the clubs assert copyright to all images used, either on their own behalf or that of named agencies (terms of use pages at Forest, Preston, Birmingham), and there's no evidence of permission to use them.

The first two batches listed, headed Nottingham Forest and Preston North End, are all used as squad photos: see Forest and Preston. The third, headed Birmingham City, are not; they're all of the same type, but that club uses action photos for their squad images, apart from one: File:Connal Trueman.jpg is used for Mr Trueman's profile.

Another image uploaded as part of the Nottingham Forest batch was previously deleted at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Danny Fox 2016.jpg. Struway2 (talk) 09:25, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being vigilant. I work with the main sponsor of these three clubs (and one more, though I have not yet uploaded the player images from that club), and while I know that's a conflict of interest, my intention here was to provide the most up to date photos for the Wikipedia community and the clubs' fans. I obtained full agreement to from each of the clubs to upload all of the player images under the CC0 licence - they agreed to release them under CC0 freeing the the images of copyright restrictions. Please let me what steps I should take to avoid deletion. Thank you for your help. Football3r (talk) 12:31, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Edit the file descriptions and correct the information there, specifically the source ("own work" means a work that you personally created) and authorship (the author of a photo is the person who created the photograph) information and remove the claim that you are the copyright holder.
  2. For each legitimate copyright holder, follow the instructions at Commons:OTRS to obtain and submit appropriate releases.
  3. (Recommended:) Read Commons:Guidance for paid editors. On a related note, but not primarily a concern here on Commons, note that you must declare any paid conflict of interest that you have when editing on English Wikipedia, avoid making edits that would be problematic from that perspective (such as replacing photos with ones featuring your employer's logo more prominently), and instead relying on talk pages to make suggestions. 3. I've added a disclosure as per your suggestion. I will refrain from editing player entries. Football3r (talk) 14:00, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
