A photographer has written in to VRTS to claim that at least half a dozen of the pictures imported from this Flickr account are scans or crops of his works. He has included strong evidence of ownership and prior publication. See ticket 2023022610003535. Given this, it is unfortunately likely that the other photos in this category were also uploaded without permission.

@Emufarmers: Is the photographer in question Juan Ignacio and does the Flickr account belong to him, or is it the Flickr account owner who is the culprit, publishing photos of others in his own name? In the former case there is no legal problem for us with these images. In the latter case I hope they have taken action also against the Flickr account (and we should probably blacklist it). Does the VRT mail answer this question? –LPfi (talk) 08:45, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@LPfi: the latter. The photographer was still reaching out to the Flickr account owner before complaining to Flickr itself, but I didn't see any reason for us to wait for that process to play out. Emufarmers (talk) 15:37, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK. In that case we should probably delete the files and blacklist the account. I assume some of the images are widely used, so it is a pity. Perhaps we could ask the photographer whether they could licence some of their images? –LPfi (talk) 07:03, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per Emufarmers. The account should also be blacklisted; we can't rely on the photos posted if they have a history of copyvios like this in line with COM:PRP, so a blacklist would save community time going forward. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:34, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
