The Evolution of Philippine Culture (1957 mural by Botong Francisco, d. 1969)

[edit]

The mural The Evolution of Philippine Culture is in public domain here, but copyrighted in the United States. The artist w:Botong Francisco died in 1969, hence in public domain here since January 1, 2020 (50+1 years after his death), but the work "published" (unveiled) in 1957 (Philippine Star source), and it was under posthumous copyright on the date of URAA effectivity for the Philippines of January 1, 1996. Therefore it will remain copyrighted in the United States until January 1, 2053 (95+1 years after its "publication" date).

Stated on Template:Not-PD-US-URAA: "Images whose copyright was restored in the U.S. by the URAA are no longer accepted at Wikimedia Commons....This template should NOT be applied to files uploaded after 1 March 2012. Files uploaded after this date which the template would apply to should be treated as other violations of the Commons:Licensing policy are." As these two images were uploaded in 2014, these are filed under regular deletion request. These may be restored earlier, if the proposed Philippine FOP in the legislature will encompass indoor mural works.
