Derivative works of copyrighted wax statues.

Am not listing other images anymore. Will wait for this result and then decide. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:00, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep there is freedom of panorama in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong even indoors - compare COM:FOP#United Kingdom and COM:FOP#Hong Kong. --JuTa 08:48, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Have added countries now. I havent listed files from Category:Madame Tussauds London now. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:14, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see. I only picked out examples from UK and Hong Kong before. Then:  Delete for those located in USA, Australia and Germany. But  Keep for those in the Netherlands, England, Hong Kong and Austria because there is FOP indoors. --JuTa 11:21, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. I think this is a correct list:

  •  Keep
  • UK, Hong Kong -- FOP OK for interior public space even with an admission charge
  • Australia -- the same as the UK
  •  Delete
  • USA -- no FOP for sculpture
  • Germany -- no FOP if the photographer is indoors
  • Netherlands -- the law does not permit an admission charge for FOP interior spaces
  • Austria -- while our summary says interior spaces are OK, it does not say whether that includes places that have an admission charge. The law simply says
"sich bleibend an einem öffentlichen Ort zu befinden"
"be located permanently in a public place"
translator: Google
so that does not help. Until we get that clarified, I think we must assume that it does not include places that charge admission.

There is also the question of "permanent". We have generally made a judgement call on this. It is safe to say that Winston Churchill is "permanent" in the UK museum, but we have not generally kept sculpture of people whose fame is much less clearly long lasting. Anne Frank, yes, but perhaps not Lady Gaga. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 11:57, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep for those in Austria Austria because there is FOP indoors and there are signs in the rooms of Madame Tussauds in Vienna that ask the visitor to take pictures. Priwo (talk) 08:17, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I noted above, we have no evidence that Austrian FOP extends to places that charge admission. Unsupported assertions do not help the discussion. As for the signs, a sign suggesting that visitors take pictures is not a license for commercial use. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 16:42, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep For UK, HK, AU. As for the other countries, I'm afraid that the precautionary principle must lead to  Delete as photographs taken where there is a charged admission will suffer from significant doubt as to valid commercial reuse, unless someone can point to tacit or explicit conditions for the exhibition to allow for it, or the photographer was specially invited (such as at a behind-the-scenes event) or someone can work out a wrinkle beyond FoP in the legislation of the country (such as protection for political parody). Thanks -- (talk) 06:32, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per multiple previous deletion requests (Commons:Deletion requests/Wax figures, Commons:Deletion requests/Madame Tussauds, Commons:Deletion requests/Wax figures at Tussauds), Wax sculptures are sculptures and are subject to copyright. Photos of wax sculptures are derivative works.

Keep most per local FOP laws. -BRAINULATOR9 (TALK) 20:28, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Delete the first two files, as Japanese freedom of panorama does not extend to 3D art. -BRAINULATOR9 (TALK) 21:57, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination those in countries with no FoP or no indication of location. Kept those in FoP places. .     Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 21:34, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
