The conclusion of Commons:Village pump/Copyright#Kuwait and FOP is that there's no freedom of panorama in Kuwait, even in the 2019 copyright law of the country. This tower was designed by Sune Lindström (who died in 1989 according to enwiki) and completed in 1976. In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for a certain period of time after the death of the creator (be it the last-surviving architect, engineer, designer, sculptor, engraver, or painter). An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception Commons:Freedom of panorama (FoP). Sadly, Kuwait has no Commons-applicable FoP.

With this argument, you should also delete entire Category:Buildings in Kuwait City. --Holger.Ellgaard (talk) 08:41, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Holger.Ellgaard: that's why there's deletion request process. Deletions and nominations related to FOP should be conducted with greater care and sufficient evidence, like the date when a certain artistic work (e.g. architecture and sculpture) was completed (if it is old enough or recent a.k.a. post-1950s–70s), if the work has artistic characteristics that would make it copyrightable (a plain house or building cannot pass threshold of originality and therefore considered uncopyrightable), and the person or organization who designed the work. Some images in the category you mentioned depict houses and small buildings that I assume to be old or having unoriginal designs. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 09:43, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
