- Comment: Given how generic the design of "short blonde haired girl in witch outfit" is, would it really be reasonable to make the point that File:Marisa get out.png falls foul of COM:FANART, though? The original artist, either intentionally or inadvertently, has made significant liberties with the design so that it significantly differs from the original work(s) by ZUN, and were it not for the description, an uninformed party could easily just pass the illustration off as any other generic witch. More detailed, indistinguishable, and visually undeniable character designs like File:Keine pointing.png I can fully agree with as being problematic, but I feel the same does not necessarily apply to File:Marisa get out.png and its derivatives. As for the Taisei images, however, these are much more blatantly obvious and can probably be deleted. --benlisquareTalk•Contribs 00:04, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I considered that, but I would rather be sure that this is in general agreement rather than hoping it is. Precautionary principle and all. Dronebogus (talk) 05:47, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

- Keep Commons:Fan art lists examples mentioning Harry Potter that I think are comparable. It mentions "A drawing of a boy in a wizard hat and robes, whether or not labelled “Harry Potter”" as being allowed, and I think this is directly comparable to the examples of art depicting Kirisame Marisa. They are drawings of a girl with blond hair, wearing a witch hat and costume, labeled as Kirisame Marisa. It could be argued that the clothing and face are identical or at least similar to those that appear in official art of the character, however, I think that the clothing isn't an issue because it is so simple, and the face isn't an issue because, let's be real, all faces in that art style look identical to most people, so it might as well be considered generic. Regarding the clothing, I'm not sure if this is entirely relevant, but COM:COSTUME mentions "If the costume is purely utilitarian and has no distinct or original graphical features - for example, if it's the kind of clothing that an ordinary person might wear on the street or on the job - then it is permitted". If we are allowed to apply costume rules to artwork, the costume that the character wears clearly lacks "distinct or original graphical features" and could very well be worn by an "ordinary person". Deleted: the three Taisei images per nomination; kept the two generic witch images per consensus. —holly {chat} 17:38, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
